"Spending time in nature allows your body, mind and soul to find a calm space in a hectic world"

Melissa Andrews is the Principal Practitioner at Rested Minds. Melissa was born in Burwood, Victoria and travelled up the east coast visiting Cairns in 1992 and has lived in Cairns ever since.

She grew up in rural Victoria and has ‘earthy’ memories there of riding horses, vegie gardens, roaming beef cattle, creeks, mushrooms, the cold, fireplaces, pottery, motorbikes and bush bashing vehicles. Melissa moved into the ‘inner city' environment of Melbourne and soaked up human experience after human experience.

Melissa had two girls – and this is the platform she learnt the most about her capacity and thresholds.  Melissa was a stay at home mum until the children went to school and in the interim she built a storefront retail art business from the ground up and taught applied art. Melissa sold the business and went off to university to study Psychology 10 years ago. And from there Rested Minds was born! And yes, the children are young adults now.

Melissa now blends her art understandings, life experience, and psychological educational knowledge and share all three individually or blended with those who may be at a crisis point, are looking for therapeutic care, or feel they need personal growth when ‘transition’ or being ‘stuck’ in life is present.
